Pair of antique prints of Claddagh Castle near Dunmore in Galway. The print is dated 1792 and the plan is dated 1793.
The prints are copper plate engravings originally published as part of a set by Francis Grose. This set was purchased in London in 1801 and transferred to another owner in the same family Hays, in 1831 in Boston.
The engraving was published by S Hooper No 212 High Holborn, London .
The engravings have an impressed area size of 8 by 6 inches with the engraving measuring 7 inches by 5 inches. The overall paper size is 13 1/2 by 9 1/4 inches.
The Plan of Claddagh is in good condition, small spots of foxing, the print of the castle is in fair condition with heavier foxing, paper will show ageing and bumping, please see pictures.
