Painting is signed and dated F J Jobson 1873.
Rev. Frederick James Jobson D.D. (1812 – 1881) – commonly styled F. J. Jobson – painter, architect and Wesleyan Methodist minister, became President of the Methodist Conference in 1869.
In addition to his paintings, he was quite well known due to his travels to Australia and the publications about these trips.
The painting is in good condition for its age, colours still quite strong, small amount of toning at edge from a previous mount.
Painting is in a new mount and a vintage gold frame suitable for the piece.
Painting measure 6 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches with the overall dimensions including frame being 17 by 21 inches.
