Jack B Yeats hand coloured print from A Broadside No 2 Fifth Year 1912. Yeats revived the Broadsheet in 1908 and renamed it A Broadside, from then till May 1915, the Broadside was published by Cuala Press with Yeats publishing one or two ballads or poems and creating and hand colouring the illustrations for them. A broadside consisted of 4 sheets, two with coloured prints by Yeats, one normally a print of one of his works with the last sheet left blank.
This Broadsides where created in a limited edition of 300 per run. The title of the verse on this Broadside is “I will not sit on the grass she says”.
The print and sheet is in good condition, paper shows age with spots of foxing, print colours are still very strong. A further illustration is on the reverse, some show through at text. Frame is in good condition, some small markings.
Overall dimensions including frame are 18 by 16 inches, the visible part of sheet is 9 by 6 1/4 with the hand coloured print measuring 4 by 2 3/4 inches.
