Antique print an engraving of Sharke the famous racehorse after the painting by George Stubbs. The print has Sharkes history underneath mentioning he won over 20,000 guineas.

Stubbs (1724-1806) was an English painter, highly regarded, particularly for his painting and prints of horses. His son also George Stubbs did this engraving.

This engraving is from circa 1850 and was originally published for The Complete Farrier and British Sportsmen. It was published by Thomas Kelly of Paternoster Row and was printed by William Clowes and Sons of Stanford Street.

The print is 5 by 7 inches with the paper area being 8 by 10 inches approximately. The print itself is in very good condition for age, paper area will have foxing and tanning mainly at edges. Text under print goes to borders edge.

Highly sought after and collectable print.
