An 1854 steel engraving John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough. General John Churchill 1650 to 1722, 1st Duke of Marlborough, 1st Prince of Mindelheim, 1st Count of Nellenburg, Prince of the Holy Roman Empire. The piece has foxing reflective of its age, mainly at the page edges, see pictures. Engraving size is 13 by 10 cm’s Paper size is approximately 18 by 27 cm’s The engravings where done from drawing by Henry Warren expressly for the printing. Henry Warren 1794-1879 was President of the New Watercolour Society the medium he mainly worked in. He was a pupil of Joseph Nollekens 1737-1823. The engraving was done by Henry Thomas Ryall Henry Thomas Ryall (August 1811 – 14 September 1867) was an English line, stipple and mixed-method engraver, he was appointed Royal Engraver by Queen Victoria.
